From ancient Telangana, this remarkable pre-Satavahana coin, unearthed at the Kotilingala site in Jagtial district whispers tales of the reign of the Pre-Satavahana King Samagopa.
The obverse side of the coin features various symbols, including the image of a bull, a tree, and an inscription in the ancient Brahmi script reading “Samagopa.” On the reverse side of the coin, an ornate double-lined Nandyavarta symbol can be seen. The presence of an intricate design resembling a swirling sun might hold religious significance or symbolise prosperity.
