The early Pallavas (4th cen. CE) ruled the central coastal Andhra from Dhanyakataka after the Ikshvakus. The later Pallavas were one of the strongest dynasties in early historic South India. They were great builders of monuments and issued coins which had limited symbols.
The obverse showcases a ship with a sacred lamp on the reverse, the other symbols show the bull combined with kumbha, chakra, trisula and horse. The coin has crude edges.
