The Vishnukundin Dynasty, rising to power in the 5th Century CE from Keesargutta, Hyderabad region, minted uninscribed coins uniquely. They first cast circular flans and then die-struck designs onto them. Their coins were possibly influenced by Satavahana coinage.
The obverse side of the coin features a lion, the dynasty’s emblem and on the reverse, symbols like the conch shell between two lamps or a Purnakumbha with foliage occur.
