The Ikshvakus succeeded the Satavahanas in the eastern Deccan, and established their capital at Nagarjunakonda (Sriparvata Vijayapuri) in 227 CE.
The Ikshvakus imitated the Satavahana coins and created lead coins with a stylised, tuskless, right facing elephant. The reverse side has the Ujjaini symbol, while the top of the coin has a Brahmi inscription written on it.
