During the Mesolithic period (10,000 – 8,000 BCE), a significant technological advancement was the creation of a noticeable trend towards the production of smaller tools, miniature versions of tools known as ‘Microliths’, likely driven by adaptations to environmental changes.
The microlith is made from flint. Its flaking is clearly visible and its edges are sharp flakes. Flint was a favoured material in toolmaking during the Stone Age because it could be split into thin, sharp splinters, known as flakes or blades, making it ideal for crafting precise and effective tools.
