A notable technological stride was made in the Mesolithic period: the emergence of microliths, smaller tools, a direct result of environmental transformations.
Chert stone is used to create a type of microlith known as an ‘end flake’, which features sharp edges that taper downward made of a dark brown stone ‘chert’. It is produced from either a small blade (microblade) or a larger blade-like piece of flint through a process of abrupt or truncated retouching.
