A celt is a polished prehistoric stone tool used for cutting or shaping, resembling an axe or adze. Common in the Neolithic period, it served tasks like farming and woodworking. The discovery at Ujjili, Makthal Mandal, Narayanpet District, Telangana, suggests that Neolithic communities may have temporarily inhabited the area.
An unpolished celt from the Neolithic period is a tool typically made from quartzite. It features a roughly shaped, wedge-like blade with a sharpened edge used for cutting or chopping. Its surface remains coarse and unrefined. These tools were essential for various tasks such as woodworking and food preparation. Some carved impressions are also visible at the obverse site.
