Bronze Ganesha sculptures became prominent during the Chola period (9th-10th century CE) in South India. This particular sculpture, however, is from a later period. Over time, the portrayal of Ganesha has evolved significantly, showcasing a fascinating and diverse array of artistic styles and forms that highlight his unique position.
Ganesha, bearing a distinctive diamond shaped turban on his head, with an intricate trunk turned to the left, having ears connected to shoulders, is seen clasping a Pasha (noose) in both hands while sitting on a pedestal. This sculpture, crafted from bronze, exemplifies minimal iconographical detail.
