Darbar of Qutb Shah

This lavish Qutb Shahi (1518–1687) Darbar scene from the Golconda School exemplifies the region’s prosperity. It showcases a cultural fusion of Persian, Hindu, and Islamic styles, characterized by rich colors and gold detailing.

At the centre of the artwork, Sultan Qutub Shah is depicted sitting on a golden throne. Surrounding him are noblemen and servants, some seated and others standing. The artist created this piece to showcase various figures, incorporating names in both Urdu and Persian. This artwork features a striking contrast between the green wall and the floral/leaf-print flooring. Calligraphy adorns the top and bottom, related to the Sultan’ Darbar, while gold is used throughout.
