This miniature portrays Abul Hasan Tana Shah (1672–1687), the last Qutb Shahi ruler whose reign marks the final peak of the Golconda School’s rich Deccani art tradition.
The portrait captures the king in a powerful, formal stance, holding a Mughal-inspired flower. His golden clothing, jeweled turban, and sword signify his royal status, typical of North Indian and Deccani royalty. The large, flowing robe is characteristic of late Golconda paintings.
