Excavations for foundation of a new Gopura at Tripuranthakam revealed Buddhist pillars carved from Palnadu limestone, adorned with half-lotus medallions. They feature Satavahana period Brahmi inscription and a 10th Cen. CE Devanagari inscription, indicating their reuse in a later temple structure.

The Endowments Department has been urged to preserve these historically significant Buddhist pillars for display in the temple premises. The Director of the Dept. of Archaeology has been appealed to, to conduct scientific excavations at the site to uncover the Buddhist site.
