Findings

A rare monolithic tallest sculpture of Lord Vardhamana Mahavira, dating back 1,100 years to the Rashtrakuta period, has been documented. This impressive 9-foot tall granite idol is in the Kayotsarga posture, characteristic of the Digambara sect, and is likely the tallest Jain sculpture in the state. It features a unique ‘ushnisha,’ which is seldom seen in Tirthankara iconography.
