Projects
Digital Documentation of Deccani Miniatures
Pleach India Foundation has undertaken a project called the Digital Documentation of Deccani Miniature Paintings at the Telangana State Museum, Hyderabad. The project aims to digitally document 100 Deccani miniature paintings by preparing an inventory with a short description of each painting using non-intrusive technologies, in order to suggest measures for preservation. These paintings belong to the Qutub Shahi, Mughal, and a few other Deccani schools. We have studied all the Deccani miniature paintings, highlighting the themes of the artworks, colors used, and the context depicted, along with the style and technique. We assessed the condition of the paintings. It is for the first time such a study is being undertaken in the state museum.
