Exploring Heritage through 'Pleachifying'

As part of one of the site visits, our team at Pleach India visited the Ramappa temple in Warangal. It was noon, and the weather felt just perfect. As I stepped into the premises of the temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site, I was stunned.
All this while, I had been visiting temples as a religious person and this was the first time I was inside a temple as a heritage admirer. The sheer size and volume of the temple and the attention to detail in every piece of carving and sculptures were beyond words.
The ceilings of Ramappa caught me off guard because of their precise geometry and intricate carvings. The stories I saw on the ceilings and the episodes of our epics are the same stories I enjoyed listening to while growing up. But now, seeing them spread out on these ceilings that are 800 years old is something I just cannot put into words.

My time at the Pleach India Foundation has encouraged me to look at the tangible heritage with in India and the sheer ambition of our ancient engineers with admiration.
