Rudramadevi Inscription 13th Cen. CE Malkapuram, Andhra Pradesh

Findings

An inscription (1236 CE) at dilapidated Visweswara Temple, commemmorating Rudramadevi’s birthday, notifying her coronation has been found.

Call to Action

The temple (now in ruins) necessitates restoration.
Dept. of Archeology & Museums have been urged to declare it a protected monument.

8th Cen. CE, Jain Rock-Cut Caves, Ambapuram, Andhra Pradesh. 

Findings

8th Cen. CE Jaina Rock-Cut Caves featuring rock-cut miniature Jain Stupa (locally perceived as a Siva Linga) found.

Call to Action

District Administration and the Archaeological Survey of India, based on the archaeological significance of the caves have been urged to provide a pathway up to the caves and develop the site as a tourist spot.

Findings

13th Cen. CE sculptures of Surya, Mahishasuramardhini, Uma Maheshwara, Vishnu, Durga and Hero Stones found.

Call to Action

Sensitised the villagers and urged the Endowments Dept. to erect these sculptures on pedestals to preserve them for posterity.

An international port-town with trade ties to Rome in the 1st-2nd centuries CE and the medieval period behind the Veerabhadraswamy temple

Call to Action

State Dept. of Archaeology & Museums have been urged to resume excavations in Motupalli and Rudramambapuram to uncover the archaeological and historical significance of these sites where excavations were abandoned in 1974.
