A ragamala painting personifying a musical mode.
A king seated regally on a lotus throne under a starry night sky, he holds a white flower and is adorned in a red jama, pearls, and a turban. The scene unfolds within a blue palace, where a priest sits opposite the Queen, also holding a lotus flower. The queen, elegantly attired, sits before him with an attendant holding a fly whisk. Below them, the composition comes alive with music and dance – one attendant sings, two play instruments, and another dances with a flowing red dupatta.
