Krishnadevaraya's: Hidden Inscription

While surveying heritage sites along the Krishna River, we stumbled upon an unusual commotion in Tadigadapa village. A lorry transporting sand had dislodged a stone at the Rama temple entrance, sparking an uproar among locals. Curious, we stopped to investigate.

Upon closer inspection, I realized the ‘stone step’ was no ordinary slab, it was an inscription-bearing pillar. After convincing the villagers to allow the lorry to move forward, we turned the slab over. To our amazement, it revealed a beautifully engraved inscription from the reign of the mighty Vijayanagara empire Srikrishnadevaraya, dated to 1518 CE.

Filled with pride, the villagers and temple priests erected the pillar in a place of honor, preserving its historical significance for future generations.
